Dear Friends in Christ,
When we come to the beginning of the New Year there are two views. First we can look back over 2011 and see all that God did for us and through us. The other view is toward the future, anticipating and praying for God’s blessing on 2012. In looking back over 2011 the Lord has richly blessed the Wales Goebel Ministry. He has worked through each of the ministries in bringing people to Christ for salvation, for discipleship, and for training. Presently, Bill and Lil Stroup have the largest group of Japanese taking English classes with them which they have ever had. Octavio and Rosie Samper continue to see nearly five hundred Hispanics each Sunday for their soccer ministry. Many have received help through our counseling with some coming to salvation in Christ. One man told me recently, “I came thinking that pornography was my problem and now I see that it is the flesh.” He has discovered victory and freedom through the cross. Another blessing of 2011 is God’s work in Colombia. Our Lord continues to grow the churches in Bogota, Zipaquira, and Santa Marta, calling many men for theological training and future church planting ministry. Recently, the Lord used the Christian Businessmen’s Luncheon and Celebration, headed up by Joyce Yancey, in proclaiming the gospel. Over 400 people attended the two events and heard the real meaning of Christmas.
We also look forward to a New Year. Some people make New Year’s resolutions at this time each year. Years ago I made a resolution that I would never make a resolution again! However, each year it is worthwhile to prayerfully set before the Lord our desires and goals for the coming months. James 4:15 states that we make our plans “if the Lord wills.” So, please join me in praying for the following “desires” or “goals” for the Wales Goebel Ministry in 2012:
That God would provide $100,000 to fully support our two staff in Colombia and cover the cost of training future church planters ($80,000 would cover their support for two years and the rest for training pastors).
That God would give new people for counselor training; that we could add new staff in the area of counseling.
That God would raise up new staff for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship (Matt. 35-38).
That God would continue His leadership through our board of directors.
That God would continue His provision for our staff and for the ministry.
That God would give Octavio and Rosie Samper help (either volunteer or additional full time staff) in their Hispanic ministry.
The most important blessing of the past year and the upcoming year is your relationship with WGM. We thank the Lord for all of you who support the ministry with your prayers and giving. We finished 2011 in the black. Our goal for 2012 will be the same. Because of your continued help the Lord will make that a reality. We look forward to all that God will do in this coming year.
In Christ Our Life,
Dr. Jay Jackson
